The crashes sound good. I never liked the z chinas and the hi hats were mediocre. That being said the original megabell is the goat metal rides. ALL these new big bell rides are garbage in comparison to the original. The rides of that era were on point for metal. The 22" heavy and light power rides where awesome, the earth ride was great and for the most metal ride ever was the original z series megabell. Hasn't been duplicated since.

I think 1.6 is one of the most musical rims, and at the same time they are not very durable

Most, if not all Evans I prefered and remo, if not most, sounded aweful with no treatment. Evans sounded record ready, may a little low and boomy for certain styles I guess.

two z mega bell rides like Gene Hoglan used in mid 90's . Gene bring Zildjian back, fuck Sabian .

Great video, merci! I think my take away is that drummers shouldn’t ignore how great aluminum is as a shell material. Yeah, it’s not as sexy as brass or bronze or bell-brass or whatever… but it speaks really well. Also surprised how great the steel drums sound, especially for the price. Overall though, have to love the Sakae, Noble and Cooley Alloy and Gretsch Aluminums…

lordy lord i had no idea they designed so many heads now rofl. i have the powerstroke three clears. i like those the best so far for balance of attack and decay with not too dead a sound. the newer tones for me that were good were the powerstroke pros and the powersonics. they really have someone working overtime in the kick head department lol

I'm interested in a Koide 20" ride, with little wash and sustain, so quite controlled, and a somewhat bright (though not overly bright) sound, with a clear bell (but not shrill sounding). My research, thus far, makes me lean towards the Absolute series... would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks. Nice demo BTY.

Evans consistently produce the cleanest sounding heads with the most low end. Aquarians produce nasty overtones. Remo heads have that bass ball tone

Ambassador Reneissance kicks ass

I use remos for everything but I’ve never come across a snare head that I liked more than the EC Reverse dot. It’s LOUD and I get a powerful crack that no other snare head has ever given me. Great for metal.

I prefer Remo for toms and snare, but for bass drum, both Evans and especially Aquarian are top notch..

Are the 703 cymbals the same line with the K Customs of Zildjian? or is it the Absolutes?

The cymbal packs for the Stratus line are overpriced. Who's going to drop over $900 on these when you can get the AAX or A Customs for the same price?

Am I right that Remo doesn't make any specialized bass drum resonant heads; do people who use Remo and want a port hole use that Gibralter port hole cutting tool?

You should consider hitting more areas of the head than just “dead” center.

Great drummer, the Z cymbals sound just as awful as I remember. It is remarkable how rudderless and lacking innovation Zildjian has become over the past 5-6 years...

Remo ambassador coated

I still have my Z Custom 21 Inch Mega Bell Ride and 18 inch China from the mid 90s. Some of the best cymbals I ever bought. They pair well with Zil Bels. The Z Custom crashes are too heavy for me though. I prefer the A and A Custom crashes and splashes. I also use the Z Custom lower 15 inch hat with an A Custom top. Once again the Z Custom top hat was just too heavy for my taste. I am glad they brought these back, the prices were getting pretty crazy.

Pleasantly surprised how good that Soul tone flat ride sounds.

I like the 20 inch crash and love the ride. Kudos to Zildjian

I’m so excited about this. I always thought they had potential. They just needed to work out a few kinks. They were way too heavy. I always regretted not buying them back in the day. I’m gonna get some this time

quite musical for heavy metal cymbals. big Z has done it again

If I'm going for that kind of sound I would use the S series. And I play A and A customs. These sound just weird to me.
